Occupational health and safety cost calculator

The cost of an occupational safety specialist and an occupational physician depends on three things: the service time under DGUV Regulation 2, the hourly rate and the on-site appointments. For offices (support group III), basic support amounts to 0.5 hours per employee and year for both together. The calculator asks for company size, federal state, support and scope and shows an annual guide price, net and including travel costs.

What the cost depends on

A quote for occupational safety and occupational health support is always made up of the same building blocks. Knowing them makes quotes comparable, even when they are structured differently.

If you want to hand over support completely, the page on the external occupational safety specialist explains what it covers in the office and how the start works.

The building blocks of the price
Building blockWhat determines it
Service timeNumber of employees and the support group of the economic sector under DGUV Regulation 2
SplitShare of occupational safety specialist and occupational physician, at least 20 percent each
Company-specific supportOccasions in the company, such as a move, new workplaces, home office or maternity protection
Hourly rateQualification and regional price level, higher for the physician than for the specialist
On-site appointmentsNumber of inspections per year and travel to the site

Service times in the office

Office and administrative workplaces usually fall into support group III with 0.5 hours of basic support per employee and year. For the statutory scope, the calculator assigns 80 percent to the specialist and 20 percent to the physician. Half of the specialist's hours are planned for on-site appointments, one appointment per eight hours or part thereof.

The support-hours calculator works out the hours for your support group. Which group applies depends on the WZ code, explained in the article on the support group by WZ code.

What the guide price shows and what it does not

  • Included: the chosen support in the chosen scope, on-site appointments and travel costs, net plus VAT.
  • Office assumption: The guide price applies to support group III. If your company falls into another group, the prescribed service time is higher. We check this in the initial consultation.
  • Non-binding: The binding quote is a market-tested fixed price in the contract. From first contact to signature: no more than five working days.
  • Large companies: From 1,000 employees we prepare an individual quote.

How quotes on the market differ and how to recognise a reliable one is covered in What does an occupational safety specialist cost?.

Legal basis

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the guide price?

It uses the service time under DGUV Regulation 2 for office and administrative workplaces, regional hourly rates and the on-site appointments required. The range shows where the quote for a typical office business of this size lies. The binding quote follows the initial consultation as a fixed price.

Why does the calculator ask for the federal state?

Hourly rates and travel differ by region. In metropolitan areas with a high price level the guide price is slightly higher than in regions with a lower level. The service time itself does not depend on the federal state.

What changes with a different employers' liability insurance (BG)?

The support group depends on the company's economic sector. For offices, as insured by the VBG, it is usually group III. With other insurers it is often higher, with more prescribed service time. The calculator points this out; we check the exact classification in the initial consultation.

What is the difference between statutory scope and extended support?

The statutory scope covers all duties under the ASiG and DGUV Regulation 2 with the prescribed service time. Extended support plans additional time for prevention, advice and inspections, for example during growth, a move or with many home office workplaces.
